Dave’s Sketches
A Crosley Vendor’s Talent Revealed
Everybody’s favorite Crosley vendor, Dave Edwards, has a special artistic flair that many may not know about. He is an established Crosley “technical” artist. With years of accruing Crosley and related parts to “share” with the Crosley universe, I discovered Dave’s secret skill by asking a basic question some years ago about my CC coupe’s obscure front hood latch mechanism. The mechanical hood’s components are awkwardly located just under the front engine compartment shrouding, and impossible to see along with its springs, connectors, and in my car’s case, rust. A diagram from the already poorly illustrated “Crosley Manual”- no luck. A verbal description of the latch mechanism – impossible to comprehend. So, I turned to Dave for help. He delivered! In response, he sent me a “simple sketch”, yes sketch, of the hood latch components. Below is the sketch that help me “grasp” the primitive mechanical hood release enterprise. A talent revealed and a problem solved.
Note: A few more of Dave’s “renderings” are planned in upcoming “Dispatch” issues.
