Click and Clack Revisited

In the 80’s and 90’s, I spent countless Saturday mornings listening to Ray and Tom Magliozzi of National Public Radio’s Car Talk program while wrenching my varied fleet of used cars back to life. I recall their humorous stereotyping of who drove what from their barrage of weekly call-ins. Strangely, after what seemed like aimless wandering, these guys went right to the jugular of repair brilliance. Dang they were good! I recently re-discovered this 1990’s 60-Minute Reboot and had the same reaction as decades ago.

For me, a new morsel of brilliance was a concluding remark…(after having embarrassingly owned a Peugot 505 myself in the 80’s). Simply Click and Clack mused, “Never own a French car unless you are in France. Enjoy this one!

 Au revoir,

The Crosley Motor Factory: How America's Smallest and Fastest Car Was Destroyed by Corporate Greed

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fkXg8MIhJc&t=1060s

This 43-minute video provides a relative comprehensive summary of the Crosley automobile universe. It chronicles the early car history, it’s post war model shortcomings, and Crosley’s before-its-time innovations. Further, it competently delineates Crosley’s demise in the wake of post-war affluence and changing tastes into the early 1950’s. This is an efficient summary of Powell Crosley and his short-lived car empire.
