Crosley and Crosley Specials - Book
Crosley and Crosley Specials
Brooklands Books Ltd (Author) Format: Paperback Amazon: $29.31
This book is covers the story of the Crosley production cars and the successful Crosley powered racing specials from their inception in 1939 up to the early Sixties. Told through a portfolio of contemporary reports featuring road tests, technical and specification data, model introductions and driver’s reports. The following “say it all” and was copied from an Amazon reader’s review:
Powell Crosley Jr. was a dreamer, and the nearly 90,000 automobiles he built between 1939 and 1952 are still the stuff of legend. This overdue 92-page UK book from 1998 is far from being a scholarly journal but it does represent the first compilation book of Crosley history, with a special emphasis on the great though nearly-forgotten racing achievements of the Crosley marque. (Strangely, Crosley's famed triumph at the 1950 Sebring endurance race is barely mentioned here.) There are also objective driver reports of a 1950 Crosley station wagon and a 1941 convertible sedan. This is basically a collection of Crosley magazine article reprints, some quite rare. Although much is omitted, there is more than enough to be found here to satisfy Crosley aficionados, auto historians, racing enthusiasts, and those who admire the people who press on in pursuit of their dreams.
